Pair of semi-detached estate workers' cottages. Circa 1860, by E.G. Bruton, for
Christ Church College, Oxford. Squared and coursed limestone, rock-faced, with
slate roofs and stone chimneys. In rustic Gothick Style with pointed arches over
narrow lights. Asymmetrical block of 2 storeys and 3 bays, with narrow gabled
bay to left, wider gabled bay to right, and small C20 lean-to extension between
in front of recessed centre bay. Left bay has pair of single lights to ground
floor, one single light to first floor, and vent slit in gable. Right bay has 2
2-light windows with stop-chamfered stone mullions to ground floor, a smaller
similar window and a single light to first floor, and an almond-shaped vent slit
in gable. Centre bay has roughcast upper storey with 2-light wooden casement,
and C20 4-light wooden casement and stable-type door in lean-to. Another door in
right side of block has arched surround. Part of a row of 3 pairs of cottages
and a lodgings house.
