Pair of semi-detached estate workers' cottages. Circa 1860. By E.G. Bruton for
Christ Church College, Oxford. Squared and coursed limestone, rock-faced, with
slate roofs. Central stone chimney. Almost symmetrical block of 2 storeys, with
2 gabled bays to centre, gabled rear wing, and hipped porch projections set back
to either side. Fenestration is in rustic Gothick style, with pointed arches
over narrow lights. Right bay has 3-light ground floor window, the centre light
flanked by shafts with cushion capitals. Above are a 2-light window with
chamfered stone mullion, and a gable vent slit. Left bay has ground floor
altered to C20 rectangular bay window with lean-to slate roof. First floor has
pair of original single lights, and gable has round vent hole. Porch projections
to either side are of 2 storeys with slit windows, and have arched doorways with
board doors to front. Part of a row of 3 pairs of cottages and a lodgings house.
