SX26NE Pigsties approximately 15 metres
979-1/2/10 north-east of Trevecca Farmhouse

Pigsties. Mid/late C19. Slatestone rubble, some granite
monoliths and granite feed troughs; rag slate roof in state of
disrepair. Rectangular plan with 5 sties, the 2 end sties of
deeper plan probably farrowing sties. Single storey; yard
front has feeding door to each sty, the 2 end bays projecting
with splayed returns and all doors protected under porch
formed by the roof carried on posts between the end bays; end
pens with doors on the splay; left-hand door is full height,
others have aprons, all with old boarded doors. Field front
has 5 doorways; 2 pairs of doors flanking a central doorway;
slit ventilator left of middle and to right-hand gable. Other
gable adjoins building not included in the listing. INTERIOR
has original troughs in situ; stone walls between end pens and
other pens; slate partitions between central pens. This
building is an unusual but effective design, and a rare
example of its type.
