Farmhouse. Mid/late C18. Painted and unpainted slatestone
rubble walls; steep asbestos slate roof on front range and
rear lean-to; hipped rag slate roof on rear wing; external
stone rubble stack over right-hand gable end; later brick
stack on left gable end and tall rubble stack between rear
wing and lean-to.
2-room plan originally with central stair between parlour, on
the left, and kitchen on higher ground on the right; in early
C19 extended with dairy/pantry and wash house at the rear in 2
phases. 2 storeys; nearly symmetrical 3-window south-west
front. Central flat-headed doorway with early C19 four-panel
door and slate hood; otherwise segmental rubble arches over
early C19 two-light casements with glazing bars except 1st
floor left and over doorway which are later replacements. 3
similar early C19 two- and 3-light casements under timber
lintels to rear wall of wing; the 2 ground-floor windows also
with iron stanchions and the right-hand (pantry) window with
perforated zinc gauze.
INTERIOR has roughly chamfered ceiling beams to right-hand
room; original wide, steep T-plan stair with later stick
balustrade to landing; 3 original 2-panel doors with
raised-and-fielded panels, 2 original planked doors; slate
flags behind stair; otherwise C19 carpentry and joinery where
visible, including slate shelves in pantry. Roof structures
not inspected but likely to be original.
