Lodge. c1804. Limestone ashlar, brick stack and tiles.
Double-depth plan. 2 storeys; 3-window range. Symmetrical
gable-front c1980 barge-boards and a curved porch with 2
Tuscan columns and a parapet on Pennant flagged step. Single
ground- and first-floor semicircular windows set in recesses,
to the ground on the ground floor and to a moulded string on
the first floor; rear windows with single projecting jamb.
INTERIOR not inspected. Originally known as the Wheelhouse, a
single-storey building with a glazed dome in the roof, it
housed the mechanism for operating the iron gates of the
asylum.
