House. Mid-late C18 with later addition and c1970 additions and alterations. Red
brick, part rendered; tile roof. 2 storeys. 3 cells, right-hand one being C20 addition,
with earlier added cell to rear left. Entrance front: near-central gabled C20
porch. C20 small-pane casement windows of 2 and 3 lights, some under early segmental
arches, others inserted. Ridge stack between left-hand cells. Left return front:
principal feature of the building is this gable, which has tall pointed-arched recess
with 3 light window as before, embattled gable, and projecting corner pilasters
treated as turrets and having triple slit vents below projecting, embattled caps. Set
back on left is rendered addition with C20 window to each floor, and hipped roof. Built
as an eye-catcher, probably for the Shottesbrooke Park (qv) estate.
