Bank. c1905. Possibly by Drake and Pizey. Portland ashlar,
ridge stacks, roof not visible. Open plan banking hall.
Edwardian Baroque style. 1 storey and attic; 3-window range. A
symmetrical front is divided into 3 sections by paired
Composite columns to a deep entablature and modillion cornice,
full attic storey with a cornice, parapet with balustrades
over the windows, pairs of flaming urns above the dies, and 2
ridge stacks with wide cornices. 3 keyed semicircular arches
linked by an impost band, with a bolection-moulded doorway
with a cartouche with festoon above; flanking arched windows
with glazing bars. Almost square first-floor windows with
moulded architraves and 2-light casements, separated by
matching moulded panels. INTERIOR: banking hall divided by
Tuscan columns on pedestals to entablature beams with dentil
cornices between pilasters; central domed light, decorative
plaster and shouldered Mannerist doorcases. SUBSIDIARY
FEATURES: attached bowed cast-iron railings along the plinth
between the columns.
