House in row, formerly inn. Late C18 front to earlier
timber-framed building.
3 storeys, 3-windowed. At second floor are 2 blind lunettes
with alternating V-joint voussoirs, and a 4-pane sash set
tight against the eaves, with vestigial lintel, and breaking
through a broad 3-course painted brick string course. At first
floor three 4-pane sashes, and to ground floor 2 tripartite
sashes, all to splayed V-joint lintels. Far left is a broad
carriage entrance (to No.38B) with a pair of plank doors
containing a passage door, under flat segmental arch to brick
voussoirs and keystone, and centred to right half a C20 door
under plain transom light, on 2 steps. Ridge stack between
bays 1 and 2. Some framing visible in left gable wall.
