Canal bridge on Leeds-Liverpool Canal, c.1810. Coursed sandstone
blocks. Elliptical arch with rusticated voussoirs, bands, parapets
with ridged copings (renewed on south side). At end on south side
are sloped retaining walls (curved on east side) of steps to tow path, which
changes sides here. On both sides the arch is now crossed by a pipe
which pierces the abutments.
