Pair of attached houses. Mid C19. Limestone ashlar and render,
roof not visible. Double-depth plan. Muted Tudor Gothic
Revival style. Each of 2 storeys, attic and basement; 5-window
range.
A symmetrical front has wide projecting full-height 3-light
canted bays, with a shallow buttress to the party wall, drip
moulds and sill bands to the first floor, a hollow moulded
cornice and moulded parapet coping with Tudor flowers. Outer
single-storey porches in front of full-height end blocks,
elliptical-arched doorways with moulded surrounds, label
moulds and moulded spandrels, to 6-panel doors with
overlights. Bays have slim attached columns with carved tops
to the angles. Windows have elliptical-arched heads and
chamfered surrounds: ground-floor French windows to the bays
with cast-iron balustrades to balconies, middle windows have
panelled mullions, ground-floor casements, and 4-pane sashes
to the rest. Similar basement windows. INTERIOR not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: attached fleur-de-lys headed basement
area railings, and octagonal entrance piers with coped caps.
