Terrace of 4 houses. c1760. Limestone ashlar, party wall
stacks and hipped slate mansard roof. Double-depth plan. Mid
Georgian style. Each of 3 storeys, attic and basement;
3-window range.
Articulated by rusticated pilaster strips to a cornice,
parapet with balustrade sections over the windows, and
rusticated ground floor to a plat band. Glendower has
right-hand entrance section set back with a C20 glazed porch
and a mid C19 doorway in the left-hand window, Hereford has
mid C19 left-hand 1-window extension; right-hand doorways,
left-hand to Hereford, have Gibbs surrounds with split keys
and bracketed pediments, plate-glass overlights and 6-panel
doors, Sutherland has door with 2 oval panels.
Ground-floor windows have incised voussoirs, architraves to
upper windows of the right-hand pair, to mostly plate-glass
sashes, and 6/6-pane sashes to the second floor of Harley.
Hereford has mid C19 bays with mullions and transoms, 2-light
to the right and 3-light to the left; upper tripartite windows
to the left extension, late C20 to the second floor.
Full-width attic dormer to Hereford, 2 dormers to the rest.
Glendower has basement doorway in the right return, and a
right-hand tripartite ground-floor window with console
cornice. INTERIOR not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: Glendower and Sutherland have attached
piers with weathered caps and rubble walls with balustrades of
circles with stars; Harley has banded piers and ashlar walls
to front garden and basement area; Hereford has quadrant walls
attached to the front doorway to flagged front area.
