walls and gate piers

Lodge, walls and gate piers. 1838. Red brick; brick stack with
octagonal shaft and crenellated cap. Castellated Gothic style; roughly
L-shaped lodge. 2 storey octagonal tower with bold parapet string and
crenellated parapet; glazing bar casements with returned hood moulds,
those to the first floor are continuous. Attached brick walls with cast
iron coping splay outwards to the road. To the right of the lodge are a
4-centred pedestrian gateway and a pair of square gate piers with acorn
finials. To the rear the octagonal tower is linked by a porch to a square
tower with attached wall, which in turn, links the lodge to the coach house
and stable block (q.v.).
