House: mid C18 with C19 addition. White-washed, coursed rubble walls
with imitation black-painted timber framing, with Kerridge stone-slate
roof and 2 stone chimneys. 2-storey, symmetrical 3-bay front. Plain
reveals to 3-light, square-leaded (some original) wooden casements.
Entrance has rough stone, semi-circular arch over opening, with
internal porch and original 3-board door with iron hinges (restored)
in plain wooden frame behind. To right single bay addition,
originally shippon and hay loft now garage, with casement above.
Interior: Some original 3 and 4 board doors.
This formerly included the village shop. Clifton Taylor (Pevsner and
Hubbard, p46) comments "black painted timbers and whitewash have been
applied to a good, gritstone housefront: imagine it!"
