Detached villa circa 1840, built on the site of Old Ryde Manor House.
The villa is set in the angle at the back of the houses on Cross
Street and the High Street where a passage adjoining No 4 gives access
to it. Three storeys stone rubble with red brick dressings. Low
pitch hipped slate roof conical over bow, projecting eaves. Second
floor sill course. Three windows, two in bow through three storeys,
second floor: recessed casements flat brick arches, yellow brick on
bow. First floor fall length recessed sash windows, glazing bars
intact, block sill to left hand one and on bow mid Cl9 cast iron
balconies but still retaining Anthemion motife. Ground floor later
French window to left, recessed panelled and glazed door in bow and a
window that has been blocked so as to leave only a small light. The
window dressings, as on the other floors in the bow, are of yellow
brick. Modern addition of garage and first floor conservatory to
East.
