Garden walling. C18. Local stone rubble and ashlar. Extending from south west corner of Balsam House (qv) a rubble wall
with ashlar coping about 2 metres high and 5 metres long, ending in a stone pier about 350 mm square, with plinth,
moulded cap, step and ball finial, with 2 fielded panels on South face only: a similar pier on the South West corner of
the South East extension, and linking them a low cut and squared stone wall, in centre of which is an archway composed
of similar piers without the finials the moulded caps being linked by a matching semi-circular arch of similar detail.
This work could well be by Nathaniel Ireson, and would thus represent almost the only survival of his work on the house
in mid C18.
