Gateway. Dated 1858. Rock-faced stone with ashlar
dressings. Entrance archway with 4-centred head and
continuous double-chamfered mouldings has datestone above.
Top corbelled embattled parapet. Flanking octagonal towers
have slots and cornices with embattled parapets. Formed
entrance to Liscard battery, built to defend the approaches
to Liverpool on the site of powder magazines.
