It has a Gothic arch with pilasters and ashlar stonework on both sides.
There is an incription on the east side above the arch,
which reads "HIC VER PERPETUUM" Here everlasting spring.
Record has it, that it was built by Thomas Clifford,
to gain access to his newly constructed walled gardens
