Early C18, reputedly used as a workroom by the author Henry Fielding. Red brick, flush
ashlar quoins, coved plaster cornice. Conical old tiled roof with wooden ball finial
and wrought iron weather vane. Square plan, 1 window to E, W and S elevations, flush doubl
hung sash with plain apron, moulder stone cill, cambered relieving arch, keystone. 4
stone steps with wrought iron railings up to doorway with two thirds glazed door with
glazing bars, 2 panels below. Above door raised panel beneath cambered relieving arch and
keystone.
Interior has fielded panelled corner cupboard and window and door reveals. Wail panels with
egg and dart ovolo borders. Raised double swags in panels over windows. Authemion coved
cornice, panelled saucer dome with swags in outer panels, large central rose and 8 roses
round circumference of central panel; foilage in spandrels: Over door 2 swags flanking
cartouche with shield of Swayne family. Listed for combined architectural and historical
interest.
