GV II

House, now a department of Sheffield Hallam University. c1870,
with late C19 and late C20 alterations. Coursed squared stone
with ashlar dressings and Westmorland slate roof. Single
ridge, single valley and single side wall coped stone stacks.
Plinth, quoins, first floor band, fretted bargeboards. 2
storeys plus garrets; 3 window range. To right, a projecting
gabled wing with a smaller gable to its left, forming a 2
storey porch. Porch has a wooden cross casement. Gable to
right has a square C20 window and above it, a single sash to
the garret. Below, wooden porch with chamfered posts linked by
an arched beam with Gothic tracery above it, all under a flat
hood with dentilled cornice. C20 door with sidelights. To
right, a canted hipped bay window with a 3-light cross
casement. To left a set back bay with a square C20 window
above, and a 4-light cross casement below. Left return has a
single window on the upper floors and a canted bay window
below, with a 3-light cross casement.
