House. Late C18, with late C19 alterations and additions. Red
brick, with slate and plain tile roofs and 2 gable stacks.
3 storeys plus garrets; 3 window range. Ground floor has a
single storey full width addition with a central gabled wooden
porch flanked by square bay windows. Probable original
entrance now blocked, and windows boarded. Above, a narrow
blocked window flanked by single 3-light casements, all
segment-headed. Above, similar windows with flat heads. Rear
has a single storey lean-to addition with pantile roof. Above,
two 2-light glazing bar casements. Above again, a central
casement flanked to right by a glazing bar casement, 2 lights,
and to left by a late C19 casement, 6 lights. This possibly
replaces a weaver's window. Main doorway, to south east, has a
gabled wooden latticed porch.
INTERIOR retains original chamfered spine beams and
staircases.
This building was probably built as the Ostler's house to the
neighbouring Basford Hall (not included).
