Erected between 1900 and 1902 this imposng buldng was a barracks and headquarters for the 105th Regiment of the Royal Garrison Artillary (RGA). It was divided into rooms to hold 11 or 12 private soldiers in each, with shared washing areas, while cporporals and sergeants had single rooms. Within the central tower is a huge 90,000 litre(20,000-gallon) water tank, while a clock, so important for the strict military routine, faces the parade ground.
