Terrace of 15 small houses. Mid C19. Stucco on rubble; scantle
slate roofs to Nos 2, 6, 7 & 10, and to rear of No.1, dry
slate to No.9, otherwise asbestos slate; hipped at ends of
terrace; brick stacks over party walls forward and rear of
ridge; cast-iron ogee gutters to Nos 6-8 & 10-15, moulded
gutter on paired brackets to No.4.
Double-depth plan plus rear service wings at right angles.
2 storeys; overall 30-window range, doorways flanked by
2-storey projecting oriels with panelled quadrant pilasters.
Original hornless sashes, most with glazing bars. Ground floor
has open wooden arcaded verandah with tented lead roof, some
with later infill glazing; tripartite doorways; original
3-panel doors, some with later top glazing, except for Nos 1,
10 & 13 with later or C20 doors. Left-hand return of No.15 has
2 oriel windows similar to front windows. Right hand return
(rear wing) of No.1 is a 3-window range with original 12-pane
hornless sashes. Rear has many original sashes, many with
horizontal panes. Later C19 hipped canted dormers to
Nos 3, 5 & 10-13 and gabled dormers with shaped and pierced
barge boards to Nos 1 & 2. Rear has original hipped dormers to
all except Nos 13 & 15; original 12-pane hornless sashes to
all except Nos 13 & 15 and with original 12-pane hornless
sashes to Nos 3-10 & 14 plus larger hipped stair dormer to
No.7 with sash with margin panes and coloured glass.
INTERIOR not inspected but likely to be of interest.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: segmental granite-coped rubble forecourt
garden walls. Original wrought-iron railings to Nos 8, 10, 11
& 14. Also a high rubble garden wall with scantle slate coping
and red clay ridge tiles to right of rear garden of
No.1 and a section of similar wall parallel to rear.
