WISTANSTOW

House. c1898. For John Jones, ironmaster and banker.
Timber-frame and brick with stone dressings. Fishscale
alternated with plain tile roofs with moulded bargeboards and
decorative terracotta ridge crestings and finials. Ridge stack
and clustered flues. Jacobethan style.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, 2-window range. Projecting gable facing
on the right has 3-light mullion and transom window with
stained glass to upper lights and carved beam over. To ground
floor a canted stone bay window. To left an open porch with
part glazed door and 3-light window over. Left side has 2
first-floor canted oriels with stained glass to upper lights
and decorative tilework over. 3 stone mullion and transom
windows below. Right side has similar fenestration and C20
conservatory and rear a small C20 extension.
