House, now attached pair. Late C17/early C18, altered late
C18. Render with limewashed limestone rubble to rear, with
brick ridge stack and interlocking tile roof with stone slates
to rear.
PLAN: 3-room plan with lobby entry and left-hand
through-passage.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and attic; 2:1-window range. Left of
centre and later left-hand doorways have flat timber canopies
on iron brackets and C18 doors with 6 flush panels. No.6 has a
double C20 ground-floor window with glazing bars, and 8/8-pane
and right-hand 10/10-pane first-floor sashes in exposed boxes;
No.8 has a wide ground-floor C19 bay with paired 12-pane
windows, a first-floor 10/10-pane sash and casement dormer
with a cambered head.
Rear has a C18 gabled service range to No.6 and a similar C19
brick range to No.8.
INTERIOR: details of No.6 include a flagged former
through-passage, ground-floor stone fireplace with bressumer,
splayed sides and a left-hand niche; central C19 lateral stair
to first floor, with studwork partitions, and an attic winder
stair to the rear of the stack; roof, partly obscured, has
tenoned purlins, lapped collars and diagonal bracing.
