House, with ground floor shop. C19 rebuild of earlier
building. Timber-framed and stuccoed with masonry lining,
hipped Welsh slated roof with panelled soffit and bracketed
eaves. 2 rooms, with central chimneystack, removed on ground
floor to create shop unit (No.44A).
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys, first floor has 2 flush-set sash windows
with divided glazing and architrave surrounds, 1 central sash
to second floor with 8 square panes. Rusticated quoins at
sides of facade, recessed ground floor C20 shopfront, with
canted C19 fascia and blind box on jettied front above.
INTERIOR: very little presently visible predates C19, although
2 closet doors with 2 large roughly fielded panels, that on
first floor between 2 back-to-back fireplaces, may be C18 and
reset. Simple C19 newel stair with close string, moulded
handrail and stick balusters now covered with C20 sheeting.
