1847. A C Bean. Terrace of houses forming part of unified scheme with Nos 1-17 and
28-9 Kensington Gate. Similar to Nos 4-13. Faced in stucco. Extremely ornate.
Unspoiled condition. Three storey houses with basements. Each house has a porch
supported by Ionic columns with projecting cornice + balustraded parapet with "vaguely
Jacobean" (NP) balusters. Ground floors are treated with horizontal grooving. First
floor windows have architraves and entablatures. Second floor has band course at sill
level and the windows have keystones. Above is a frieze of Greek key-pattern and a
projecting modillion cornice, surmounted by a balustrade with open fretted panels. The
basement forecourts have splendid thick cast iron railings.
