House, now 2 houses. C17 or earlier, reclad and extended to late C18.
Timber framed rear range clad with red brick of various dates, some
in English bond, with plain tiled roof. Front range of yellow stocks
with slated roof (the rear slopes with plain tiles). C18 front. 2
storeys, attic and basement with plinth, plat band, pilaster strips,
projecting centre and cornice strip. Hipped roof with 1 flat roofed
dormer and stacks to rear. Regular fenestration of 3 glazing bar
sashes on first floor with gauged heads, and 2 segmental tripartite
glazing bar sashes on ground floor. Central door of 6 raised and
fielded panels with central beaded moulding, in panelled surround.
Keyed arch over and evidence of at least 2 porches now removed.
Basement openings to left and right. Margin light French door in left
return. Rear wing: ranging 1 storey and attic to 2 storeys. Half-hipped
roof. Irregular fenestration of wooden casements and glazing bar sashes.
Interior: rear wing with some exposed frames. The two buildings,
originally 1 dwelling, overlap in internal disposition. Late C18 wing
with acanthus and palmette friezes in principal rooms, original
fittings (doors and window shutters). Marble fire surrounds and
contemporary dogleg with winder stair case, unturned balusters, open
string with carved brackets, and stair hall cornice of modillions,
rosettes and guttae. Garden wall attached to north of house, about 8
feet high, approximately 20 yards in length, with small, panelled
outhouse attached.
