29/774 Urn situated on ridge
to NW of Petworth House

Urn. C17 stone urn, on early C19 stone plinth. The urn may have come originally
from the parapet of the west front of Petworth House or from the Duke of Somerset's
formal parterre garden but was set in its present position on a plinth by the 3rd
Earl of Egremont. The urn has elaborate carved masks. Square plinth.
