Stables. Probably early C19. Hammer-dressed stone, stone slate roof.
Double-depth. Single-storey. West elevation fronts lane: has 3 segmental-arches
with voussoirs and skewbacks, impost blocks, columns, outer ones ½-columns with
tie-stones. To right, doorway with monolithic lintel. Rear, similarly fenestrated,
opens into fold yard. Right-hand return has window with lintel and sill flanking
central doorway leading into feeding passage.
Interior: retains large feeding racks with turned wooden supports backing onto
central feeding passage with stone walls. Modified fish-bone king-post roof.
It is likely that the building was designed to accommodate shire horses.
Part of the Harewood Estate.
