Superintendent'shouse. 1883. By M. O. Tarbotton for the
Nottingham Corporation Water Department. Brick with 2 colour
slate roof, gabled and half-hipped, Gothic Revival style. Ashlar
and moulded brick dressings. Plinth, string course, dentillated
sill band, machiolated eaves, bargeboards. Single ridge and 2
side wall stacks. 2 storeys, 3 bays. Irregular L-plan. Windows
are mullioned and transomed casements, some shouldered, and
lancets. South front has to left, gabled wing with canted bay
window. To right, integral porch in return angle, with curved
brackets and wooden balustrade. To right again, a casement.
Above, 2 casements. East side has to left, gabled wing with
square bay window. To right, casement. Above, to left, triple
lancet with carved tympanum, dated 1883. To right, a casement.
Rear has off-centre 2 storey parapeted tower with hipped roof,
and coped wall to yard. Outside, ashlar steps with moulded
balustrade and 4 octagonal piers. This building is a detached
ancillary building to Papplewick Pumping Station.
