Farmhouse. Early C17 with later additions and alterations. Timber
framed with painted brick infill on painted chamfered Grinshill stone
plinth; C19 painted brick additions; plain tile roof. Original house
of 4 framed bays, probably of baffle-entry plan, considerably extended
to left C19. Framing: best preserved to rear; square panels, 3 from
cill to wall-plate with long and short straight tension braces, renewed
and partly painted in imitation to front. C19 casement-fenestration,
one to left and 2 to right directly below eaves and 2 in C19 brick lean-
to to right. This has segmental-headed outer doorway and inner C17
nail-studded plank and muntin door. 4-light mullioned and transomed
window to left of lean-to and C19 gabled dormer in roof slope to right.
2 red brick ridge stacks to centre of C17 part and tall external red
brick stack to right gable end. Late C19 additions to left under same
roof pitch painted black and white in imitation of timber frame with
lower painted brick addition to far left. Interior: chamfered plinth
carries right around C17 part including to former left gable end, where
C19 addition now abuts. Deep-chamfered spine and cross beams with straight-
cut stops to ground-floor rooms and jowled wall post exposed to back
right corner. Right ground-floor room has C18 wall cupboard with panelled
door and H-hinges. Plank and muntin doors throughout and original floor
boards to first floor and attic. Single-purlin collar and tie beam
roof in 3 bays plus chimney bay with position of infilled window visible
above collar to right gable end.
