Public house and shop. 1847 with alterations c1900. Ashlar with ashlar dressings and slate
roof with raised gables and kneelers plus 2 brick gable stacks. Rusticated ground floor,
moulded first and second floor bands, chamfered eaves and raised quoins. 3 storey, 3 window
front. Ground floor has central passage entrance with to left an altered C19 shopfront, and
to the right a pub front, c1900, with panelled pilasters, fascia board, glazed tiles and stained
glass windows divided 3:1, with to the right a recessed 4-panel door. Above two 16-pane
sashes with between an ornate iron pub sign and to the right a sign board, beyond to the left
a plain sash. Above again three 16-pane sashes. Interior of the Free Trade Inn has an
entrance passage with tongue and groove plank panelling and a series of 4-panel doors. Bar
to right has similar panelling throughout with a side screen also plank panelled with glazed
upper panels and dividing pilasters with moulded tops and ball finials, this screen is supported
by curved iron braces. The bar itself is panelled with dividing fluted pilasters. 2 fitted
wooden benches and a moulded fire surround. This building is listed because it retains a
good Edwardian pub front and a remarkably well preserved pub interior.
