The Old Vicarage

Vicarage, now house. Initialled and dated "J.D. 1846" (Rev. John Daniel,
incumbent of St. Michael's (q.v.) 1844-1875). Large dressed stone, Welsh
blue-slate roof. Vernacular Revival style. 2 storeys and attic. 3-bay
symmetrical facade. Plinth, string course. Central bay projects as porch
and has pointed-arched doorway with hoodmould with initialled and dated stops,
3-light mullioned-and-transomed stepped window with hoodmould to 1st floor and
arched lancet to attic gable. Offset angle buttresses, coped gable with kneelers.
Outer bays have mullioned-and-transomed windows; 3-light to left on each floor,
4-light to right with 3-light above. Gutter brackets. Coped gables with
kneelers. Left-hand return has canted bay window of 3 transomed lights. Right-
hand return of 2 bays has flat-roofed projecting bay with 3-light chamfered
window and 3-light mullioned-and-transomed window to 1st floor. 2nd bay has
lst-floor oriel of 2 double-chamfered lights with coped gable with kneelers.
Windows to this elevation retain decorative leaded lights. Rear: T-shaped with
gable stack and one other at junction with front range. Included for group value.
