The description should be amended to read;
House. c1600 timber framed addition to No. 2 refaced with painted brick on
ground floor and plastered above. Pegtiled roof with modern brick chimney. 1
3-light C20 casement to ground and lst floors but 2 small late C16
ovolo-moulded wooden mullioned windows to 1st floor. Fine left side. Early
C17 doorcase with rectangular fanlight and studded door. Rear elevation has
modern dormer. Single bay structure with continuous jetty. Roof of side
purlin and collar type (see Rape of Hastings Architectural Survey No. 609).

C16 or C17 timber framed house. 2 storeys and attic window in central
slightly projecting wing. This has a half hipped gabled roof. House has
a tiled roof, and has been underbuilt with brick (painted) on the ground
floor. Above the jettying is still visible. Upper floor stucco. 2 modern
casement windows which are probably the original windows of the house on
the upper floor. These now have modern frames inset. Massive C17 4 shaft
chimney has been added at the back of the house.
Nos 1 to 9 (odd), the Pump and No 1 Rye Hill form a group.
