House, once used as meeting house and Sunday school. Circa late C17,
altered and extended in C19. Timber framed, partly rebuilt in Flemish
bond red brick, with brick front and rendered ends. Thatched roof with
gabled ends. The original house is of 3-room plan with an axial stack
between the centre and left rooms, heating the centre room and forming a
lobby entrance. The partition between the centre and right hand room
have been removed and in C19 an outshut built at the back and a 1-room
plan extension added to the left (north) end. 2 storeys. Asymmetrical
1:4-window west front. 4 2-light casements on first floor and 2 3-light
casements on ground floor with segmental arches. Ground floor left a
larger 12-pane fixed-light window and another similar in extension on
left with glazed door between. Main doorway to left of centre with Cl9
gabled brick porch with panelled and glazed door. South gable end has
brick stack with set-offs and 2-light casement on right with cusped
heads and glazing bars. At rear brick outshut with pantile roof;
2-light casements and plank door. Interior: Centre and right hand
rooms made into one room, the central stack having large fireplace with
chamfered timber lintel; 1 roughly chamfered cross-beam. Small room
left of stack has light scantling chamfered axial beam. On first floor
timber framing in end walls and stud partition, roughly chamfered tie-
beams with clasped purlin roof above.
