House, late C16 with major alterations of mid/late C19. 3 windows. 2
storeys. Timber-framed and encased at front in C19 gault brick. Plaintiled
roof with ornamental ridge tiles. Mid C19 windows, those at 1st floor with
moulded cast iron lintels and small-pane sashes. At ground storey a pair of
flat-roofed splayed bays with large pane sashes. Entrance door with 6 sunk
panels, oblong fanlight and set-forward arch of gauged brick voussoirs and
keystone springing from pilasters. Some framing is exposed internally.
Arched stud-bracing to studwork. Altered clasped-purlin roof. The upper
floor was originally long-wall jettied at front. Deeds are said to indicate
that the house was an inn in mid C17.
