House. Circa 1840 by Smith for himself. Coursed squared sandstone with ashlar
plinth and dressings; graduated Lakeland slate roof. One storey and basement,
3 wide bays. U-plan. Central half-glazed door in plain stone surround;
projecting outer bays have canted bay window with stone mullions and late C19
sashes. Corner pilasters to each projection; basement door recessed at right
of left canted bay.
Central bay filled by c.1900 conservatory.
Low-pitched hipped roof has wide eaves on decorative wood brackets, and long
hips over canted bays; corniced ashlar chimneys in groups of 3 on ridges.
Curved flight of steps in front, in 3 stages, has renewed flanking walls, which
are not of interest.
