House, late subdivided and now 2 houses and flat with former shop. Circa 1840.
Sandstone rubble; Lakeland slate roof with ashlar and yellow brick chimneys.
Chalet style. H-plan, the front and rear blocks as 2 chalets linked by narrow
bay. 2 storeys, 3 windows to street. Shop at right has narrow pilasters and
bracketed cornice framing glazed door and overlight, and shop window with 2 rows
of 4 large panes; 48-pane sashes at left and on first floor in outer bays, and
small concave-sided diamond-shaped windows, with small panes, in centre of each
floor. First floor jettied on shaped wood brackets with wood floor-level band.
Roof has deeply-projecting eaves on shaped and pierced wood brackets with curved
pendants. Returns have similar windows, some renewed, and round-headed windows
in linking set-back section, on right return; decorative barge-boards on gables.
Rear upper-floor addition on higher ground level not of special interest.
