Stables/granary and threshing barn. Mid C17 stables, re-roofed and extended
with further stables and adjoining threshing barn in late Cl8-early C19.
Coursed ironstone rubble with ashlar and brick dressings. Pantile roofs.
L-shaped on plan: stable range with barn at right angles. Stables: single
storey with attic, 12 bays: 2 builds of 6 bays. Early section to right has
ashlar quoins, 2 entrances: plank stable door (lower half missing) to right
in moulded ashlar surround, board door to left in chamfered ashlar surround,
each flanked by 2 ovolo-moulded single-light ashlar windows in chamfered
reveals. Adjoining stable to left: plank stable door on right in ashlar
surround with carved keyed lintel flanked by single-light ashlar windows,
stable door to left (lower half missing) flanked by windows with C20
rendered surrounds. Windows to early section have iron bars, most have
later part-glazed wooden ventilators. Dentilled brick eaves cornice. Roof
lapped to right. Right return has first floor 2-light ovolo- mullioned
window in chamfered reveal with inserted casements with glazing bars.
Adjoining threshing barn forms left return. 5 bays: blocked original
waggon entrance under elliptical brick arch, with inserted plank door under
segmental brick arch and pairs of ventilation slits to either side.
Dentilled brick eaves. Hipped roof.
