Entrance gateway, gates and attached boundary walls. c1920, for Herbert Washington Broome. Red brick and plain tile with moulded cappings. Low boundary walling of dark red brick, laid to rat-trap bond, topped with clay saddle-back copings. Intermediate and corner piers of alternating bands of brick and tile rise above wall-head height, terminating in slightly corbelled heads and curved caps. Entrance gateway set within north-western part of boundary walling. Wide semi-circular archway, rising from low banded piers. Arch soffit of brick on edge, and above, a wide band of zig-zag patterned tilework set between tile on edge margins. Further plain banding completes the arch detail. Low timber gates with ramped top rails decorated hanging straps, and hanging posts with moulded tops. Listed for group value with 'Avalon'.
