House. Late C15 or early C16. Floored in stages late C16 to C17.
Refronted late C18 or early C19, altered later C19. Timber frame, red
brick front, No. 6 whitewashed. Steeply pitched machine tiled roof. 2
bay hall with service bay to left. First floor chambers inserted at
ends, centre floored subsequently. 1 storey and attic. No. 4: 2 windows,
central entrance. No. 6: 1 window to right of entrance. Early C19
doorcases, bracketed hoods, No. 4 has reeded lintel and jambs. Ground
floor C19 sashes in flush frame moulded architraves, gauged brick flat
arched heads. Plat band. 3 C19 gabled dormers with bargeboards.
Dentilled brick eaves. Inserted cross axial ridge stack over entrance to
No. 4. Left end external stack. Right end stack on front pitch. To rear:
casements in stock brick, lean-to additions. Interior: lower king strut
roof with curved queen struts, collars clasp purlins. Hollow chamfered
and curved supporting braces and wind braces. (Pevsner 1977: G.Bailey
