Symmetrical pair of C18 houses, 3 storeys. Brick with painted stone strings
at floor levels. Bracketed cornice. Slate roof. 6 bay front, no glazing
bars, Ground and 1st floor windows have painted arches and stone sills. Pair
of 6 panel doors in central Ionic porch of 5 pilasters, framing doors, and
2 columns supporting enriched and bracketed entablatures with curved frieze
and deep open pediment with enriched octagonal panels to soffit. Tympanum over
doors has vase and cornucopia ornament. Central lead rain- water pipe with
cast head. Plain cast iron rails. Interiors have been much altered but No
37 has open string staircase, moulded balusters, swept out. Mahogany doors.
Nos 37 to 43 (odd) form a group.
