Cottage. Probably early C18, extended at rear in C19. Painted rendered stone
rubble and cob. Hipped thatch roof with stone rubble stack with tapered cap at left
end. Slated single storey rear kitchen wing.
Plan: 2 room plan with central passage containing staircase, the room to right
unheated. Short rear scullery/pantry wing added probably in early C19 to rear right
side, and single storey late C19 kitchen wing to rear left side with outshut between
the 2 wings.
2 storeys. 2 window range. 2-light casements, 4 panes per light above late C19
verandah with hipped slate roof supported on 2 chamfered timber posts and
incorporating canted bay windows to each side, that to left with large 6-paned sash
that to right replaced in C20. Central 4-panelled door, the upper 2 panels glazed.
Interior: C19 joinery and staircase intact. C20 fireplace conceals earlier hearth
to left-hand room. Feet of straight principals visible suggest C18 roof structure
but roof space not inspected.
The village pound was sited immediately to the right of this cottage, a small
pantiled leanto shelter to the end wall sheltering the village stocks.
