Includes No 7A Charlotte Street. Early-mid C18 2: storey, 3-window house at
wide proportions, with an added right bay. Red brick in English bond, Hipped,
stone flagged roof of moderate pitch with two brick ridge stacks. Gauged brick
arches to replaced sash windows, including a round headed staircase window
above central entrance: two stone steps to 4-panel door in Ionic doorcase set
in stucco panel. 5-bay left return shows finely-gauged window arches and a
central lunette above a tripartite window. Heavy moulded stone cornice and
ashlar plinth. Beyond, a late C19 link to an early C19 house fronting on Charlotte
Street, all part of same property. Later C18 extensions towards Kirkgate,
possibly industrial. Interior has good original staircase, with turned balusters,
carved tread ends and ramped handrail, in a stairwell with rich plasterwork
of fruit and flowers in raised borders. Two other rooms with deep, enriched
cornices; and much original woodwork.
