Detached villa, now rest home; with attached verandah. Mid to
later C19; altered. Pebble-dashed with painted stone
dressings, slate roof; cast-iron verandah with felted roof.
Square double-depth plan.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and attic, 2 windows to Marine Terrace and
3 in the entrance front; with verandah carried round,
1st-floor sill-band, oversailing bracketed eaves and an
open-pedimental gable to the east (entrance) front. This
latter is symmetrical, having at ground floor a central
square-headed doorway with side-windows, panelled door and
overlight, flanked by projected tripartite sashed windows, at
1st floor three 4-pane sashes, and in the gable a small
round-headed window. The front to Marine Terrace has (inter
alia) a canted bay window under the verandah, 2 tripartite
sashes at 1st floor, and 2 flat-roofed dormers; and continued
to the left is a single-storey extension which links with
No.13. All the 1st floor windows are furnished with louvred
shutters. Ridge chimneys. The attached verandah has
elaborately pierced standards and frieze forming 4 bays to the
entrance front, and 7 to the left side where it carried round
the canted bay and continues along the extension.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
Forms group with No.13 to the left (qv).
All the listed buildings in Marine Terrace, together with
those in Adelaide Terrace, Bath Street, Beach Lawn and Marine
Crescent, form a group in the Waterloo Conservation Area of
Crosby.
