House now shop. c1840 with C20 alterations and shopfront. Part
painted brick in Flemish bond, part stuccoed; timber eaves
frieze; slate roof with brick stack.
EXTERIOR: 4 storeys; 4 bays to Market Street, 2 bays to Peter
Lane, and canted bay on corner. Market Street front has
shopfront of plain pilasters and deep fascia beneath shallow
cornice. On first floor, windows are unequal 12-pane sashes
with raised sill band: on second floor similar taller windows
with narrow sills: on third floor, squat 6-pane sashes with
narrow sills. All have painted flat arches of gauged brick.
Canted bay has 15-pane window on first floor and blocked
windows on second and third floors. On Peter Lane front, all
windows are blocked except for one 12-pane sash between first
and second floors.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
Included for group value as part of a good group of early C19
houses on Market Street.
