Pair of small houses. Mid C19, slightly altered. Red and
yellow brick in Flemish bond, giving a speckled effect, with
painted stone dressings and slate roof. Late Georgian style.
Double-depth plan, each house single-fronted.
2 storeys, 2+2 windows, symmetrical; with a 1st-floor
sillband, dentilled frieze and bracketed eaves. Round-headed
doorways to right and left respectively, each with a
rusticated surround, keystone, panelled door and plain
fanlight; large canted bay windows at ground floor, each with
a dentilled cornice, blocking course, and sashes without
glazing bars; rectangular windows at 1st floor, those at No.54
with 4-pane sashes but those at No.52 with altered glazing.
Large cruciform chimney on centre of ridge.
Rear and interior not inspected.
Forms group with Nos 58 and 58A to the left (qv).
