MALDON

FULLBRIDGE
(North West side)
No.7

GV
II

House, now shop and flat. Mid C17. Timber-framed and rendered
over ground floor of red English bond brick (now mainly
rendered) with gabled concrete pantile roof. Gable facing;
front to right; formerly of baffle-entry plan.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys plus attic; one-window range;
single-storey brick rear extension with pantile roof. The
gabled end has a 2-light C20 casement window, to attic, over a
C20 window in old opening. Ground floor has C19 shop front
with fascia and cornice over 3-light window and C19 door. The
north-east front has a C20 casement on each floor and glazed
C20 door under timber gable. The rear extension has 2-light
small-paned casement and tall chimney stack.
The ground floor of English bond brick, with moulded plinth
appears to be contemporary and bridging joists are built in to
this showing an exposed end on south-west front.
INTERIOR: 5 bays of substantial framing with stack in centre
bay and tight winder staircase in rear of bay. The attic is of
true A-frame type with dovetails on foot of principal rafters.
Rear tie beam is asymmetrically cambered demonstrating quality
of available timber of this time.
