House, now offices, flat and shops. Early C19. Main block of
Gault brick with hipped slate roof, with parallel rear range
with hipped plain tile roof. Nos 114 & 114A of red brick with
Gault dressings and with slate roof, gabled to front and
hipped to rear. No.116A of Gault brick with gabled slate roof.
EXTERIOR: main block (No.116) of 3 storeys and cellar;
5-window range; 2-storey blocks either side of frontage. The
front of the main block has blocking course and moulded brick
dentilled cornice. On the 2nd floor there are five 2-light
windows with gauged brick flat arches. Raised double-string
band between storeys and 5 French windows, with C20 metal
frames, on 1st floor, with balcony of cast-iron decorative
balusters. Ground floor has 2 canted stuccoed bay windows
supporting balcony with sash windows with central vertical
glazing bars and corner pilasters. Central door surround of
similar stucco pilasters, recessed door and panelled reveals.
2-storey rear wings, one with canted bay window of C19, and
C20 extensions under construction at time of survey.
Nos 114 & 114A have moulded brick parapet and 2-light casement
window over C19 shop front of 4 lights with transom and door
with rectangular fanlight.
The north-west flank has an early C19 shop front of 3 lights
with pilasters and cornice/hood. To the south-west are 2 doors
and a 2-light casement on each storey.
No.116a has moulded brick parapet and, on the 1st floor, a C20
window under gauged brick flat arch. The ground floor has tall
C19 shop front with fascia.
Flank to south-east is of rendered brick with C20 canted oriel
at 1st floor.
INTERIOR: ground floor room of main block has
elliptical-headed recess with keystone and panelled pilasters
and simple plaster cornice. Other front room has modillioned
plaster cornice and semicircular arched recesses flanking
former fireplace. Staircase has pilaster-like motif at top and
bottom supporting handrail. One 1st-floor room has fireplace
with shouldered architrave.
