House, at one time with shop. C17 and early C19. Timber-framed
with rendered brick front and plain tile roof.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys with attic and cellar; 3-window range. 2
gabled dormers with cross-pattern-glazed 2-light casements.
Moulded painted timber eaves cornice. 1st floor has recessed
12-pane sash windows. The ground floor has C20 boarded door
and a long projecting fascia over 2 square shop-window bays,
each of 16 small panes over 4 larger panes and with sloping
back soffits.
On the rear are 2 parallel gabled 2-storey ranges at
right-angles to the front with C20 casement windows and stack
in central valley.
INTERIOR: front range has a 1st floor with substantial
bridging joists and spine beams with small joists, mostly
reused. The rear wall has large posts either side of an
inglenook fireplace with curved back and mantel beam. On the
1st floor, part of this rear wall has early C19 panelling of
pine with 2 cupboard doors with L-hinges and opening for
fireplace. The staircase has a short length of handrail with
barleysugar balusters.
